Volunteer opportunities
Contact your local board member if you are interested in these or other ideas.
Neighborhood Watch
We need block captains to help co-ordinate a neighborhood watch program with the Austin police.
Kiddie Mulch
Research project: identify a vendor who can periodically check on, and top off, the kiddie mulch around the playscape. Kiddie mulch is a special safety product. It is not ordinary garden mulch, and it's rather expensive. We're probably paying too much right now.
Trail Maintenance
A couple times per year a volunteer walks the trail inspecting for wear and damage, and writing up a list of trouble spots for the landscapers to repair. The theory is that by identifying only the few trouble spots, we save money compared to asking them to "just resurface the whole trail as needed".
Currently we spend money each year to have the crushed granite topped off. Then it wears away or washes off, and we repeat the process. If you know, or care to research, a better or cheaper to way to manage this, your input is welcomed.
Newsletter
The print newsletter has been a one-woman effort. Surely she could use some help.
Social Committee
Help organize the annual or semiannual neighborhood party.
Pipeline Wildflowers
Find a good source of wildflower seed. Choose an appropriate mix and quantity to beautify some or all parts of the pipeline. Find the right season and technique to spread the seed. Purchase and sow.
Website Content Management and Development
Enhance and maintain the site.
Your Pet Project
Do some research, write a good proposal, explain why your Pet Project will be an asset to the community. Bring it to the Board. Bring it to the annual meeting.
